@norm@privateger 64 probably would have been enough for me tbh but I upgraded in january 2025 when the prices were decent and it was too hard to resist doing the silly
@norm@privateger I upgraded from 32 actually, mainly because zfs still fucks with memory management, and I regularly use a windows VM which is fairly demanding (windows is barely usable with 8GB these days so I usually allocate 12+) and my desktop is also my home server and it's pretty nice being able to run minecraft servers or whatever in the background and not really worry about it
@novenary@privateger there was one time I was running an image generation model and it exhausted all of my ram and swap when I was still using 32 GB, so it would occasionally just get killed off by the OOM killer.
There was also one time I had a bad set of RAM and it would cause btrfs to mark some files as corrupt randomly lol, usually would happen when I was using more ram
