Hm... I kinda wonder what would be the best distro to install KDE Plasma on apart from KDE Linux (which is nice, but I don't want to risk daily driving beta testing version of an OS on both my devices).

I can install Fedora again, but I'll have to reinstall anyway, so why not distrohop while I can.

For Fedora atomic... I don't really like Ublue as an organization lately, but I could use just normal Kinoite (video codecs are in flatpaks anyway afaik). I am more or less used to rpm-ostree/bootc, and will have a nice additional benefit of rollbacks and immutability.

OpenSUSE? Only tried in VM, and I am not really sure there is even a reason to use it.

Arch... May not work ideally with KDE and if I will move away from Niri would I even want a DIY disto at this point? And even if I will use it I will avoid AUR anyway.

Void? While also mostly DIY distro, installing KDE on it may be easier than other things, and I could maybe finally get a systemd-less distro to try. One issue is that I won't be able to get encrypted /root without manual install, and while I may just use Plasma Vaults... Will it really be enough?

I don't like Debian's "stability", it just never worked for me and I want newest Plasma.

And I dislike Ubuntu and it's corpo behavior towards user by faking firefox deb package that instead installs snap package.

Linux Mint with current of KDE would be wonderful I think, but I think LTS Ubuntu repos don't have even 6.6, so it will be easier to choose another distro.

A lot of other projects like MX Linux and alike have older KDE as well, so also no.

@tiredbun kinda the reason I end up going back to fedora is cause they somehow tend to just make things work with KDE.

Arch is fine though it's quite bleeding edge. openSUSE has weird defaults that they never really changed for whatever reason despite a lot of people not liking them, but can work okay once you go around and change things to something more saner

The most surprising thing for me is how much small issues my current Fedora LXQt install has, especially with portals. I guess Fedora Spins have a lot less strict standards of quality, and also didn't test enough wayland yet.

Fedora KDE worked fine for me as my second ever distro (even if it was still a "spin" at that point), and I used some variation of Fedora Atomic (Bazzite, Aurora) for quite a while, so I guess KDE version will likely work out of box.

@tiredbun I've been using it on my desktop for a while now (current install is over a year old going from 42 -> 43 -> 44) and it's been pretty solid
