Given all the utter bullshit Canada's immigration has given me recently I am seriously considering moving to Japan

I mean Japan isn't that welcoming to immigrants but I hope that I don't get as much terrible luck and flat out bullshit as I got in Canada.

What kind of bullshit you ask? Being put under security screening for no reason, for more than 2 years at this point without any timeline for completion and even my lawsuit submitted to the court is stuck in limbo. And my work permit is expiring. And they rejected my new work permit application because somebody trusted their dumb AI's tag and didn't even read my application, and mistook my application as a different class entirely. If they just did this 2 weeks later I would have had to resign from my job and leave immediately.

I am giving them another 6 months to do anything about my PR application. If it goes nowhere I am just going to start preparing to move to Japan.

@PeterCxy yeah I've heard horror stories about our immigration system, and it's probably even worse than before thanks to the rules and quotas being tightened

@norm What happened to me isn't even the new rules and quota thing, it's security screening which nobody knows how it is triggered and nobody, even IRCC themselves, has a timeline. That has been a long-running issue long before the recent rule changes. And of course that's the reason why I had to renew my work permit, which then ran into problems with their new "AI" system that's supposed to improve efficiency. It probably does, but not for what I originally ran into.

Now of course the new quota makes no sense either, because it is applied after someone has already been approved in principle for PR and not on the applications themselves. So it is effectively only gating people who are already in Canada working and just need the one piece of paper to get their status out of limbo, but that is held back because there is a quota now.
