I probably will have to move my main server to an intel based platform if I decide to go into the clustering route since most used mini pcs out there are intel-based, not as much used amd stuff out there.
was wondering why the pi 4's hostname was being reset to the old one. turns out cloud-init by default resets the hostname to the one used for initial setup unless you tell it not to...
speaking of browsers, firefox has been annoying me lately since it randomly likes to start consuming cpu cycles and run slowly for seemingly no reason in some cases
like it lagged on jitsi on my steam deck a few weeks back and now it's caused my laptop fan to spin up when I use phanpy (when i don't recall it doing that before)
@halva@novenary dunno too much about how ladybird and servo are these days though. Last I heard servo was kinda on life support, but I guess that's starting to change.
@novenary@halva really do hope google ends up spinning chromium out into an independent foundation. As it is, the development priorities are way too skewed towards Google's priorities (like Manifest V3 cripping adblocking, etc).
In terms of Gecko, I'm kinda skeptical about its future as well. Mozilla's been relying on Google money for a long time now, but the antitrust stuff might cause that to stop soon. Doesn't help that it's been mismanaged for a while now too.
Webkit might be what I'd go for if I was making a new browser today, but it does lag behind a bit in terms of standards compliance. Though to be fair, a lot of that has been driven by the Chromium group these days so maybe that's not as big of a downside...?
@koakuma I would have thought it'd been discontinued at this point, but I guess Tesla is either super tenacious or are actually seeing those sell well enough to continue.
(haven't looked at any sales numbers to be sure either way)
