or alternatively I could relegate the current server to run truenas or proxmox backup server and everything else runs on mini pcs

I probably will have to move my main server to an intel based platform if I decide to go into the clustering route since most used mini pcs out there are intel-based, not as much used amd stuff out there.

was wondering why the pi 4's hostname was being reset to the old one. turns out cloud-init by default resets the hostname to the one used for initial setup unless you tell it not to...
