@Makura it seems to be a weird trend for companies to use grey text on black which isn't exactly easy for many people to see (especially older people like my mom)
So yesterday we got a new oven delivered but the text on the front doesn't light up for some reason (and the models with that feature cost like $1000 more for some reason) so instead I got a pack of 2 puck lights for $10 and that solved the issue.
