NGL I do actually kinda prefer caching remote media on the server instead of simply proxying it like the pleroma family does
The main thing though is that it should be easy to do a routine cleanup of old remote media which thankfully is the case with iceshrimp.net (unlike mastodon from what I'm hearing)
Ok so libvips does work with iceshrimp.net
Uploads via the default frontend don't appear to work for some reason but I can upload fine in a third party client
@theking @ezio same, I kinda have gone overboard with a 4tb main ssd in my desktop and both the steam deck and laptop having 2tb ones, none of them getting close to being filled tbh
@asoukes lawnchair is pretty good I've heard
Keeping this around though for as long as I can and hopefully without database corruption or whatnot
(of course I could also use my beefy ryzen home server or even the Dell Mini PC but this is pretty much an experiment)
I'd probably get a pi 5 if I wanted a low powered server for iceshrimp.net just cause it's a bit more powerful but as I already have a pi 4, this works well enough
So getting posts shared does actually push the cpu to max for a bit but it doesn't feel too bad otherwise, at least for the purposes of a single user instance
@novenary yup it ain't right without a biribiri.dev instance once again
@tomo people overreact about the snaps, but they're not hard to ignore if you don't want to use them
arch and gentoo are also fine, I just am a bit too lazy to do manual setup
